Oncology & Chemotherapy

Oncology is the compassionate care and treatment of the cancer patient. Once the diagnosis has been made, the tumor has been located, and the patient's condition has been evaluated, one must plan a treatment that fits the patient and their owner. Along with surgery (that also includes laser and cryotherapy) and radiation therapy, chemotherapy is one of the multiple modalities for the treatment of cancer in our pets. Examples of such malignancies are leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, mast cell tumors, osteosarcoma, and apocrine gland carcinoma.
Veterinary Medical Services
Chemotherapy is the principal treatment for systemic cancers (those that are not localized and affect the body as a whole). Anti-cancer drugs are used to induce remission, to eliminate any resistant tumor cells, and reduce the microscopic tumor burden. The goal of all oncology is to cure cancer, if possible, and if not, to produce a delay of recurrence and improve the quality of our pets' lives and increase survival time.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture involves the stimulation of specific anatomic points on the body for therapeutic purposes with needles, heat, impulses of electromagnetic energy. Acupuncture is used to normalize or correct the flow of Qi (the body's life-giving force) and to restore health. Many of these points are related or linked via meridians or channels that connect locations having functional relationships, i.e., communicate with body organs and tissues through these meridians. Each acupuncture point has a specific physiologic action when stimulated. Many points work in harmony to enhance actions and capabilities and give a therapeutic effect.

Behavioral Consultation and Therapy

We provide information/advice regarding correction of problem behaviors, including chewing, spraying, scratching, digging, house soiling, etc.
